(Kaisa)

Hait sun kamasi pois täältä eilen

palautit pakun ja avaimen

elämä jatkuu silti

halusin tai en

(Kaisa)

You picked up your stuff from here yesterday

you returned the van and the key

life goes on anyway

whether I wanted it to or not

(Markus)

matkalla jonnekin perusbaariin

taas sataa mutta kenen laariin

tää on niin dramaattista

että naurattaa

(Markus)

heading to some basic bar

it's raining again but who's getting anything out of it

this is so dramatic

it's got to make you laugh

(together)

tää on kerho särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin kanssa yksinäisten

salaseura särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin

(together)

this is the broken hearts club

you are not alone among the lonely

secret society of broken hearts

you are not alone

(Anna)

mulla on aina huono tuuri

valomerkkikin tuli juuri

on tullut taas laskun aika

se liian suuri on

(Anna)

I always have bad luck

last call just came too

it's time for the bill again

it is too steep

(Markus)

ei meän pöyässä juttu luista

en tunnuslukua edes muista

sinä minun pääni täytät

yhä edelleen

(Markus)

conversation doesn't glide at our table

I don't even remember the PIN

you fill my head

still even now

(together)

tää on kerho särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin kanssa yksinäisten

salaseura särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin

et ole yksin

et ole yksin

(together)

this is the broken hearts club

you are not alone among the lonely

secret society of broken hearts

you are not alone

you are not alone

you are not alone

(Kaisa)

voit silmäkulmastas kyyneleet pyyhkii

kun puoli kaupunkii puolestas nyyhkii

ketä huijaat kun sanot kyllä tää tästä

joka toinen etsii valoa pimeästä

(Kaisa)

you wipe tears from the corner of your eye

while half the town sobs for you

who are you fooling when you say it will get better

every second person is looking for light in the dark

(Anna)

tää on kerho särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin kanssa yksinäisten

(together)

salaseura särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin

(Anna)

this is the broken hearts club

you are not alone among the lonely

(together)

secret society of broken hearts

you are not alone

(together)

tää on kerho särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin kanssa yksinäisten

salaseura särkyneiden sydänten et ole yksin

(together)

this is the broken hearts club

you are not alone among the lonely

secret society of broken hearts

you are not alone

(together)

tää on kerho särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin kanssa yksinäisten

salaseura särkyneiden sydänten

et ole yksin

et ole yksin

et ole yksin

et ole yksin

en ole yksin

et ole yksin

(together)

this is the broken hearts club

you are not alone among the lonely

secret society of broken hearts

you are not alone

you are not alone

you are not alone

you are not alone

I am not alone

you are not alone

Notes

Melody

As noted by lilli m, the keyboard melody in the beginning of the song bears some resemblance to the whistled opening to Dom Andra, a 2002 single from the Swedish alternative rock band Kent, which disbanded in 2016. If intentional, such a reference could be a sort of double homage, not only to Kent, but to Maustetytöt, who are known for their references and borrowing, including of at least one melody.

“who’s getting anything out of it”

Playing with the idiom “to rain into someone’s grain bin” (sataa jonkun laariin), meaning to provide a benefit or a windfall.

“last call just came too”

Literally, “the light signal just came on,” meaning lights were flashed to indicate that last orders are being taken.

“conversation doesn’t glide”

Meaning it doesn't flow, from the Finnish luistaa, meaning to slide surely, quickly, and with elegance. Maustetytöt used this same construction in one of their earliest songs; a longer explanation of it is under that song here.

“remember the PIN”

In Finland and most of Europe, a PIN is required whenever you pay with a card, including at a bar or restaurant.

Transcription/translation credits

Thanks lilli m for important correction to the tense in "whether I wanted it to or not" and for correcting the transcription of laughing, wiping tears from eyes, and the city sobbing.
